World's second-oldest amusement park

Tivoli Gardens opened on 15 August 1843 — making it the second-oldest amusement park on earth (only Bakken in Klampenborg, north of Copenhagen, is older). Walt Disney visited in 1951 and used Tivoli as a direct inspiration for Disneyland, which opened in 1955. Today Tivoli has 26 rides, 38 restaurants and gardens that are nearly as much an attraction as the rollercoasters — the centrepiece Pantomime Theatre has performed traditional Commedia dell'Arte daily since 1874.

When the park is open

Tivoli has four seasons with full closures in between: Summer (Apr–end Sep), Halloween (mid-Oct–early Nov), Christmas (mid-Nov–end Dec, the magical one), and Winter (Feb school holidays). It is closed January, early February, and late October — check before flying. Hours: 11:00–22:00 weekdays, until 24:00 weekends. Friday Rock concerts at the open-air stage are free with entry (May–Sep).

Tickets — and which rides need extra

Gate admission alone is DKK 165 (~€22) in 2026; unlimited ride pass adds DKK 250 for a total of DKK 415 (~€55). Most rides cost DKK 60–100 individually if you don't get the pass. The Rutschebanen wooden coaster (1914) is the world's oldest still-operating wooden rollercoaster — non-negotiable ride. Direct from Copenhagen Central Station — entrance is across the street, less than 60 seconds walk.
